Kaiju Smoothie Post-Jam


Hey everyone, we hope you’ve been enjoying crushing fruit and making smoothies! We have a couple of updates to share with you today.

First, we’re proud to announce that we won the RIT Game Developers Club x Drawing Club Spring 2025 Game Jam! Thanks to everyone who rated our game and to the organizers for putting it on, it was a ton of fun!

The second thing is that we have a new version out with a couple of tweaks and new things we wanted to get in during the jam. You can read the changelog below:

  • New tiles! The play area looks a little more varied and interesting. We also added lampposts you can crush and watch spring up again.
  • You can now actually see the smoothies you make and the customers take them. We used OKLab color blending to try to achieve the best possible smoothie colors.
  • Menus! The game has a proper start and game over menu, complete with stats.
  • Lots of little juice and polish updates. We added a shockwave distortion shader on the stomp, along with showing the points you’re getting from each stomp. Fruit now sweat as they flee from your shadow.
  • The difficulty progression is now tuned more closely to what we had envisioned, and we fixed some bugs with it that caused too many fruits to spawn after each smoothie. The penalty for making the wrong smoothie was also reduced from five seconds to three.
